The Hype (-r-shield) around wraps

UV coating for vinyl curtaining and wraps
Resene Hypershield coating for vinylHypershield® was developed as a highly flexible, single pack acrylic-urethane clear coating for vinyl curtaining and other flexible surfaces. Hypershield® cures to a hard but flexible finish which is easy to clean. The highly flexible nature of Hypershield® (even when the vinyl is stretched) means that it has also become a favourite among sign writers as a sealer after sign writing or on plain unpainted vinyl curtains and to increase the life of the vinyl and digital prints.

Did you know that your digital print only has a 1 year warranty with cold laminates? Hypershield® will extend the image life for up to 5yrs? UV and chemical inhibitors offer maximum resistance greatly extending colour life of your graphics and vinyl’s.

Hypershield® can now be tinted proving additional scope for vinyl advertising. The new Vinylside Basecoat system used in conjunction with Hypershield® now gives manufacturers a quick, cost effective way of adding colour and design with UV protection.

Rice Graphic Images (RGI), our approved Australian applicator, has been using Hypershield® for over 3 years. RGI offer a design supply and installation service in Victoria, Australia. David Rice (Owner/Director of RGI) placed Hypershield® as the point of difference to his competitors, saying “It’s a more cost effective, flexible coating for digital imaging that has improved productivity substantially.”

This year Graham Lockie (RALI Development Manager) was invited to support RGI – the only graphics company represented - at this year’s Trucks in Acton Expo held in February. The purpose of the stand was to display digital imaging, Hypershield, Tinted Hypershield and the Vinylside Basecoat to the prospective truck buyers.

David now uses Hypershield on all his wraps too. Wraps are able to change the colour of a vehicle by simply wrapping it in heavy-duty vinyl.

The heavy-duty vinyl material wraps around the vehicle surfaces giving it a new image instantly! The vinyl doesn’t need to be polished to keep its lustre, just washed in the same way as normal paintwork. It can easily be removed at a later date, returning it to the manufacturer’s original colour and as-new finish. As the vinyl coating has protected the paintwork, it will be stone chip and scratch free.

The cost of wrapping a vehicle is similar to painting, however the bonus is that it can be inexpensively returned to its original colour and condition by simply removing the vinyl wrap. No re-spray required, obviously enhancing its resale value.

Wraps can cover all or part of a vehicle. This news may put a frown on the faces of some spray-painters, but new technology in the form of UV stable vinyl is here. It comes in 50 standard colours including metallic and can also be colour matched to suit an individual tint.

RGI has also wrapped both aeroplanes and boats. As testimony to the durability and adhesion capabilities of the vinyl wrap, one speedboat travels in excess of 200km/h with the wrap being tortured by the force of the water, without a chink in its armour.

The UV-resistant vinyl is clear-coated in Hypershield, especially necessary in high exposure areas such as the roof, to prevent colour fade.

TCC Solutions (NZ) Ltd is New Zealand's leading quality commercial signage company. They have applied Hypershield to more than 8500 truck curtains, and offer a 5 year guarantee on their Hypershield applications.
