Award winning Waikato artist, Vanessa White, has her sights firmly set on the international art market. As an established artist based in Te Awamutu, Vanessa, with her unique mixed media style, is set expand into national art scene, armed with the knowledge that two of her pieces have already been bought specifically to export.

The essence of Vanessa's style emanates from a personal journey. One of many twists and turns that have taken her from the beech forests of the Ruahine Ranges to the beaches of coastal Raglan. Developing from this has been a distinctive style capturing the quintessence of New Zealand at its most natural. Having worked with various mediums including ink, graphite, chalk pastel, oil and acrylic paints, Vanessa's preference is now, for mixed media, allowing for much more depth and feeling. A unique 3-dimensional aspect has emerged as a part of many works, which when placed in a well-lit position, create a "living" works, with shadows cast along the artwork, or adjacent surfaces making the space within which the art is hanging, a work of art in itself.

Many works have been completed using a mixture of Resene Lumbersider satin acrylic and Resene Enamacryl Metallic waterborne metallics.

"To me art is as much an experience as it is a statement". Thus Vanessa White intends for her pieces to be drawn to the soul, to be felt at the very core, so that the viewer becomes one with her piece. Senses are enticed through not only a strong use of textures and tactile media, but in some instances, through the saturation of essential oils.

Vanessa exhibits each month throughout the Waikato. Some of her work is always available to view in Bags and Beyond, Alexandra St, Te Awamutu, while monthly exhibitions consist of one local display in Te Awamutu and concurrently another in the wider Waikato.
