A Wayne Kelly painting

Wayne Kelly

Wayne began painting from an early age and acrylic paints appealed because of their fast drying and extensive colour range. He has experimented with many styles and subjects from modern to traditional but went through a period of painting exclusively motorbikes.

Wayne was inspired at a young age with the surrealism of Salvador Dali, then the great landscape artists. These days he follows the work of Scott Jacobs and David Uhl who are both legendary car and motorbike artists.

Working with acrylics in multiple layers can produce a 3D raised effect, which Wayne tries to incorporate into his work as much as possible, along with using varying sheen levels to accentuate contrast.

Wayne’s favourite Resene products are Resene Lustacryl semi-gloss waterborne enamel and Resene Enamacryl waterborne enamel, as well as the Resene Enamacryl Metallics range. Wayne enjoys working with the intense colours and durability of these products and the U.V. resistance they provide for sunny rooms.
