Copper fig planter

Mark Rayner creates a metallic effect on a simple terracotta pot.

You will need:

To get the look: Mark used a 'Brown Turkey' fig from the Incredible Edibles range and the background wall was painted with Resene Seagull.

Step 1 Step one
Following the recommendations, seal the inside of the terracotta pot with Resene Terracotta Sealer. Allow to dry.
Step 2 Step two
Paint the outside,top edge and inner rim of the pot with one coat of Resene Quick Dry Acrylic Primer Undercoat. Allow to dry.
Step 3 Step three
Using a 'stippling' technique, apply one generous coat of Resene Sandtex to the outside, top edge and inner rim of the pot. Allow to dry.
Step 4 Step four
Apply one coat of Resene El Salva to the outside, top edge and inner rim of the pot. Allow to dry.
Step 5 Step five
Using the paint tray and roller, apply two coats of Resene FX Metallic in Resene Copper Fire to the outside, top edge and inner rim of the pot. Allow to dry.
Step 6 Step six
Apply two coats of Resene Concrete Clear to the outside, top edge and inner rim of the pot. Allow to dry.
Step 7 Step seven
Using top quality potting mix, plant the fig in the centre of the pot, leaving a 50mm space between the soil level and rim of the pot.
Step 8 Step eight
Cover the potting mix with a 50mm layer of pebble mulch.
