Cube puzzle

Transform old wooden building blocks into an entertaining cube puzzle using a rainbow of Resene colours.

Resene Toys and Games with Mark Rayner - Project 23

Difficulty level: Easy

You will need: 27 wooden cubes (we used old building blocks), Paintbrush, PVA glue, Resene Quick Dry, Resene testpots of Resene Fizz, Resene Get Reddy, Resene Gobstopper, Resene Kermit, Resene Lochmara, Resene Orang-atan and Resene Surfs Up.

To get the look: Mark painted the table with Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Havoc.

Other ideas: Use plain cubes of wood and stain the finished puzzle with Resene Colorwood coloured stain or Resene Colorwood Whitewash.

Glue the blocks into the configurations shown and allow PVA glue to dry.
Step 2

Apply one coat of Resene Quick Dry to the puzzle pieces and allow two hours to dry.
Step 3

Paint the first shape with two coats of Resene Get Reddy, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Step 4
Step four
Paint the second shape with two coats of Resene Orang-atan, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Step 5

Paint the third shape with two coats of Resene Fizz, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Step 6

Paint the fourth shape with two coats of Resene Kermit, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Step 7
Step seven
Paint the fifth shape with two coats of Resene Lochmara, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Step 8
Step eight
Paint the sixth shape with two coats of Resene Surfs Up and the final shape with two coats of Resene Gobstopper. Allow two hours for each coat to dry.
