Pretty in punk

My colour is Resene Violent Violet which is a deep purple colour. I think the name sounds punk but still feminine. Due to this I became inspired by the embellishments used in punk culture such as the safety pins or the fishnets seen in my mood board. This is how I got the idea for the dress where the bodice and skirt are separate and are then woven back together in a zig zag shape similar to the look of fishnets.

I also wanted to bring the femininity I saw with the name ‘Resene Violent Violet’ to the outfit so I wanted to give the dress a feminine and figure hugging silhouette. I also wanted to give the coat a punk and feminine look but I didn’t want it to appear too harsh so I looked at a witchier aesthetic for inspiration. I gave the coat a straight shape but it is designed to be drawn in at the waist to give a similar silhouette to the dress but more free.
