Resene Bullseye

Frillsation

Anahera is completely entranced by the beauty of Paris, free from the limitations of expectation.

People stare in awe, completely envious of her charisma.

Anahera isn't aware of her own courage, her own strength, her brilliance, her beauty, she doesn't realise the stance of her body, the confidence in her eyes, the wisdom beyond her years.

The French glitterati have her as their target, Anahera can sense their gaze...she feels constrained by their judgement. Unwillingly she is the centre of attention, she is the bullseye.

Desperate to know who she is and where she comes from they try to grab her attention but suddenly Anahera in drawn by a deep crimson reflection.

Anahera is in awe of what glistens before her. She feels herself unravelling, becoming free from societies expectations. Reflecting back is a women who did not realise she was unafraid to be herself.

Anahera becomes the bullseye.

Resene Bullseye is a gorgeous crimson red which instantly demanded my attention. When I look at it I feel an allure and a sense of mystery.

After reading Anahera’s story I feel like she is a young woman who is growing with every experience she faces. She is like many young women of my generation unsure about who she is or who she wants to be...she feels pressured by the expectations of society and is never satisfied with who she currently is.

My garment is a symbol of growth through experience. I believe throughout life the more opportunities you throw yourself into the more confidence you develop to be yourself.

Bullseye is a centre target on a dart board. Your eye is instantly drawn to the striking red just as Anahera felt in my story.

The dress has a structured bodice, a boned and lined corset, it has lacing on either side which falls against the sides of the body. On the left side there is an off the shoulder sleeve which is attached to the underarm of the corset and elasticated onto the arm, it has a functional buttoned up placket. On the right side there is a spaghetti strap and a flounce wrapping around her arm attached to the corset underarm. The centre back seam of the corset is closed via an invisible zip that continues into a pencil line skirt. There is a removable flounce that begins at the front of the bodice and drapes over the shoulder and around the body of the dress. It is attached by covered buttons which can be used in many ways to create multiple different looks. It unravels around the dress which relates to my theme of breaking free from expectations.
