Master of shapes

When I received the Resene colour ‘Maestro’, I instantly knew this was the perfect name for this elegant colour and beyond reading their description of the colour which is described as “a finely orchestrated blue green of Persian origin - masterful and controlled”. I was amazed at how many elements there were to it. I was drawn to the rich nature of ‘Maestro’s‘ Persian origin, this tied in well with Anahera’s journey and the desire she has for exotic imaginings. As Anahera starts her journey she is strong and determined just like Maestro is Masterful and controlled.

I want to portray the history of Persian art with ideas and inspiration stemming from the Persian tiles dating back from the 14th century while also captivating the ever changing fashions of this century. This is done by focusing in on the geometric designs used on the tiles. I have used these for silhouette shaping and finer details like the panelling of the bodice in line with the shaped pockets, angled waistline and underlay skirt panels. This will give the garment a geometric tiled effect.

‘Maestro‘ has also inspired me to challenge myself further than I thought I would coming into this, the word masterful has been pushing me through my research and design process to become the best craftsman I can be, channelling my inner creative artisan.
