Location:
Hapuku School, 596 Kincaid Road, Hapuku (school pool fence).
Team:
Mary and Greg Ashwell with the tamariki and whanau of Hapuku School Kaikoura.
Accessible to public:
No.
Mural theme:
The connection between Hapuku School and the local cultural histories and the natural environment of Kaikoura.
Background to mural creation:
This mural was created to celebrate the stories of these connections with a visual piece of art and to have the tamariki and whanau take part in the creative process and encourage a sense of belonging to the Hapuku community. The mural beautifies the pool area with a piece of art that not only looks good but can also be used as an educational tool to teach the tamariki about the local rohe (tribal areas).
